Summary: The Tooth Tally Project is back for another year of counting those missing teeth! First grade students and teachers will use email to collect and exchange data about something first graders everywhere have in common: lost teeth! They'll use this data to create graphs and charts, solve math problems, and write stories. Complete details are are on the project website.

Full Project Description:
Each class will be assigned to a group when they register. The number of classes in each group will depend on how many classes join the project but probably be 8 or 9 classes. The teacher begins keeping an official count of how many teeth are lost by students in the class. The number of lost teeth should be posted on a bulletin board in the classroom. Once a month, teachers send an email message to the other members of their group stating their official number of lost teeth for the month. Teachers will use this data for many classroom activities. Some lesson ideas are on the project website. Additional classroom activities will be emailed to participants once a month during the course of the project. Complete directions will be emailed to teachers upon registration for the project.
