Description of Our Community: Taiwan is a beautiful island, small but filled with diverse cultures and natural landscapes. Taiwan is located on the northwest edge of the Pacific Ocean in Eastern Asia, with a dense population around 23.5 million people, similar to many other Asian countries. Taiwan advances in various aspects, such as economy, technology, and transportation. Taiwan's location is surrounded by the sea, which is vital to much of its culture and business. The local maritime industries, such as international trade and marine fisheries are all essential components to the country’s economic development. However, like most countries worldwide, Taiwan also faces problems with waste disposal and recycling. According to statistics from the Ocean Conservation Administration, Taiwan’s waters cleaned 41 tons of seabed waste in 2020, with 88% of fishing nets or fishing gear. The marine waste left behind by the fishing industry has caused significant burdens on the marine environment. Therefore, we aim to investigate the secret of environment conservation glasses and how these waste fishing nets are recycled and made to regain their commercial value.

Project Description: With the advancement of technology, environmental pollution is becoming increasingly severe. Environmental pollution problems can lead to destruction of marine life, climate change, species extinction, etc. To avoid those problems we must take immediate action. In this research project, we focus on environmentally friendly eyewear made from the Taiwan Ocean’s discarded fishing nets. The environmentally friendly eyewear connects to the central concepts of “Circular Economy” and “Environment Protection.” In addition, worldwide businesses are gradually raising awareness regarding environmental conservation and transitioning to environmentally friendly products. In this research project, we explore how Taiwan implements environmental conservation principles and contribute to a company that supports marine ecology. Furthermore, our data analysis is about Taiwanese usage and perceptions of environmentally friendly products. Through this website, we hope to promote the causes, effects, and solutions of marine pollution.
