Description of Our Community: We live in the important traditional culture city, Changhua City. In this city, there is the only Changhua County Museum of Traditional Nan Bei Music and Theatre in Taiwan. Besides, various kinds of traditional culture activities are popular. In March every year, in particular, the birthday of Mazu, the temples around Taiwan, go on a pilgrimage and offer incense in well-known Nanyao Temple of Changhua. It is the religious center of local people. Our country and government strongly support the people’s religion. From traditional ceremonies, traditional music activities, traditional opera, traditional martial art to the pilgrimage, they highly drew the attention of the people. Moreover, with the constant transmission of media, it is the annual important local event. It not only enhances the cohesion of local people, but also releases the stress of modern city. It is people’s spiritual strengthen. Thus, people in Changhua are simple, diligent and optimistic.

Project Description: The belief in gods and Buddhas is the daily life of the Taiwanese. There are various temples worshiping gods and Buddhas scattering throughout the streets and alleys. For the statues of gods and Buddhas worshiped in both temples and at home, these exquisitely carved statues not only serve as people’s religious beliefs and spiritual sustenance, but also reflect the miraculous traditional craftsmanship of “statue sprucing.”
