Description of Our Community: Hsinchu City, located in northern Taiwan, formerly known as Zhuqian, is one of the earliest developed cities in northern Taiwan. The construction of the city began in the Qing Dynasty, when an earthen city was built to prevent pirates and had a complete city outline. Afterwards, the city gates and walls were demolished one after another. Currently, only the east city gate - Yingxi Gate, known as the heart of Hsinchu, remains. Later, when the Japanese ruled Taiwan, they built the Hsinchu City State Hall and the Hsinchu Railway Station, a national historic site in Baroque and German styles. There is also Dongmen Market. At present, Hsinchu is not only an educational center, but also has one of the best national universities in Taiwan. With the establishment of the Hsinchu Science Park, it has become Taiwan's science and technology development center, leading Taiwan's economic take-off. Hsinchu is a city that combines tradition and technology. From the Qing Dynasty and the Japanese occupation period to the current technological center, each historical stage can create its own unique urban style and leave behind precious cultural and historical scenery. In order to allow everyone to have a glimpse of the once glorious historic sites, Hsinchu City has planned a guided tour of the old city. Under the leadership of professional tour guides, people can personally encounter the historic sites where Hsinchu City was founded, and experience Hsinchu's history, humanities, and The beauty of architectural art.

Project Description: This topic is to gain an in-depth understanding of the historical sites, history and humanities of Hsinchu City's old town area through activities such as information reading, video viewing, on-site inspections, guided tours and handicrafts. Within one square kilometer of the old city, there is the highest density of historical sites in Taiwan. The scope of this study starts from Hsinchu Railway Station, a national historic site, along the old city moat, and ends at the Yingxi Gate (East Gate), the old city gate of Hsinchu, a national historic site. After renovation, a poetry wall, projection sculpture, glass bridge, river gallery and moat water park have been added, becoming a mark of the times that combines tradition and modern technology. Then we visited the Hsinchu City State Hall, a national historic site, and the Hsinchu City God Temple, a second-class historic site that was once the religious center of Hsinchu. Finally, we arrived at the Dongmen Market, which was once the largest market in Taiwan. Since the Hsinchu City Government attaches great importance to tourism and cultural industries, it combines the strength of local businesses every year to organize various artistic and cultural activities and free guided tours, and work together to create a high-quality urban tourism environment. Through in-depth explanations, we can re-understand Hsinchu City and let people see the charm of this city's century-old glory.
