Description of Our Community: Located in the central part of Tainan City, Guantian District has the highest annual production of water chestnut shells in the country and is thus known as the "hometown of water chestnut shells". In recent years, Guantian has been facing a serious population exodus, resulting in a constant loss of young labourers. In the face of such pressure, the local industry has developed a new business opportunity through the sustainable management of the industry, turning the water chestnut shells, which used to be treated as waste, into environmentally friendly fertiliser and sorbent packs after charring.

Project Description: In recent years, due to the rise in environmental awareness, products made from crop waste have also become a topic of public concern. "Water Caltrop Biochar" is a product that uses discarded water chestnut shells, which are worthless after consumption, to give it a new life through charring and increasing its value. We have discovered the business opportunities behind this product and through this competition, we are promoting this "The Treasure of Guantian" to the public. This is a great opportunity to promote this product to the public and make it more accessible to the public.
