Description of Our Community: Matsu is the pearl of eastern Fujian. With a small population and limited infrastructure. Matsu is the frontline that protects both the State and its people with rigid defense facilities. Matsu also possesses a rich culture that is very eastern Fujian – inspired. In addition , the diversity in natural landscapes, particularly the beautiful island coasts, all contribute to an exceptional local atmosphere and unique charisma that awaits vistors.

Kaliu~ Kaliu~ you’ll miss this dream land if you followed a common tour guide. Kaliu~ Kaliu~ our ancestors crossed the sea and stayed on the falling pearls. It was so prosperous in the good old days, now it is home for the mythical bird. Kaliu~ Kaliu~ there is still a passing by among the four townships and five islands. Kaliu~ Kaliu~ Xiju is the southernmost island of Matsu. Passengers wrapped up layers of culture left by the time. Xiju is not an outlaying island in your words, it is a sleeping white dog in ancient book, my beloved hometown.

*Kaliu: “go out and play” in Fuzhou dialect.

Project Description: Matsu is islands of Taiwan, and Xiju is an island of Matsu. Because of its remoteness, Xiju keeps its original scenery and the look in early times. The information about Xiju is relatively less, so it is still a snub neglected by people. Therefore, our team members collect information and show local features through this project, to treasure this land more and improve the awareness to people. We encourage our team doing labor division and share the resources together. Teachers lead children to make flexible use of skills they learned, hoping that they can break the limit of remote area and communicate with the world actively.
