Description of Our Community: Kaohsiung is a beautiful city in Taiwan. The weather here is always good, and so is the air. Located on the south end of the Taiwan High Speed Rail Line. The World Games Main Stadium at Zuoying have held "The World Games 2009 Kaohsiung". There are many famous temples at Zuoying, which have long histories, so we can know the life stories of ancestors and cultural heritage. In addition, the biggest Confucius Temple in Taiwan is right at Zuoying. And a wide variety of delicious food and snacks will satisfy your appetite. We would like to study more about the importance and history of Zuoying, and introduce the customs and culture to people. Also, we hope that we can understand the significance and value of our neighborhood.

Project Description: Lotus Pond is surrounded by lots of splendid temples. With the Japanese’s occupation before 1945, these temples kept changing, but people’s piety to religion kept the same. Now, there are still many people making a pilgrimage to these temples. The most famous historical sites at Zuoying is “Old Town,” a relic, which was built in ancient times to protect homeland. Old Town has four gates: East Gate, West Gate, South Gate, and North Gate. West Gate was too old so it has been demolished. The city government built a monument across from Haicing Vocational High School, our school. This monument records the history of West Gate. Confucius Temple is a good place to study and recall the greatest teacher in China, Confucius. There are many memorial tablets of Confucius and his disciples. Therefore, we plan to do an in-depth report of Zuoying’s scenic spots, relic, culture and customs. We hope that many people can more understand our beautiful hometown and introduce this good place to their friends.
