The high density and high diversity of indigenous population endows Taitung County with beverages richest resources.

Project Description: The Paiwan are an aboriginal tribe of Taiwan. The majority of Paiwan people live in Taitung and speak the Paiwan language. In 2014, the Paiwan numbered 96,334 which makes them become second-largest tribal group.

The name “Paiwan” may have originated from a myth. According to the myth, Paiwan ancestors lived in a location on Dawu mountain that was called “Paiwan,” where heaven is said to exist. The unique ceremonies in Paiwan are Masaru and Maleveq. The Masaru is a ceremony that celebrates the harvest of rice, whereas the Maleveq commemorates their ancestors or gods. The Paiwan is famous for handicraft and they are good at weaving, making beads necklances and wood culpture. Mrs.Chen owns a tranditional Paiwan art store and she makes many delicate Paiwan handiworks. The reason why she run the store is to pass down the Paiwan Culture.
