Description of Our Community: The campus of Chingsau Elementary School contains Sanyi Neighborhood, Hsinsheng Neighborhood, Nanping Neighborhood next to the west side of the railway, being a railway community school worthy of the name. Either the smell of coal cinder in the early period, the roaring of train or the horror when the train crossed the level crossing or tunnel has been rooted in the mind of adults and children. In 2014, great changes occurred to the railway culture and environment in Yuanlin. How to activate the space of many buildings or facilities existing because of railway transportation, like South Yuanlin Station, Railway Silo, Yuanlin Bike Path? And how to plan the space under the land bridge of elevated railway to meet the demand of most people in Yuanlin Town? Let’s have an exploration!
Project Description: From November 2011, the 135 traffic facilities hindering the development of Yuanlin have been demolished or leveled with the operation of Yuanlin elevated railway project, and great changes are occurring in the railway culture and environment in Yuanlin. Chingsau Vanguard Team successively visited Yuanlin Train Station, Central Region Engineering Office, Mayor of Yuanlin Township to know about the policy and action of the public department. Through interview and questionnaire, the team summarizes the opinions of director and residents in the community, and meanwhile, the team carries out themed tour teaching, beautifies the residence community, sets Chingsau Railway Story Hall, Railway Silo paint solicitation and carries out railway volunteer service to promote the campaign of loving Yuanlin railway environment, so that the Yuanlin people will be happier.
