Description of Our Community: In the 1600s, Tainan was the capital of Taiwan. The place was full of trade, markets, people, and enthusiasm. However, after 1683, when the Qing dynasty came and conquered Taiwan, Taipei replaced Tainan as the capital. Today, Tainan combines its rich history with modernized city plans. Tourists can see an old, European castle sits between the traditional market and a business skyscraper. Of course, problems occur while modernization and development. Pollution, local security, and industrial transition appears in Tainan. One of the most important problems is the disposal of stray animals, especially the stray dogs. Government does not want to deal with those animals, thus it simply kills the animals. Though, there are amendments and different proposals raised in out legislation, the conflict of whether or not to keep the animals alive and give them a new home or to kill the animals is still an essential one in Tainan.

Project Description: Our project is focusing on the disposal of stray animals in Tainan. ”Li Feng Hwei Ming Guan" is a local group that tries to save the stray animals that are sentenced to death by the government. They have a house that contains nearly 1,500 stray dogs. After sheltering the dogs, they also provide food for free until the dogs are adopted. Their goal is to let the government and the community know that stray animals should have the right to live. Stray animals are the same as humans. They deserve to have their own voice, so do not give up on them. In our project and website, we will discuss and analyze not only "Li Feng Hwei Ming Guan's" contribution and future plans for the stray dogs, but also the disposal situation in Tainan and the mechanism of TNVR (Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate, and Return).
