Description of Our Community: Erchong Floodway starts from the south of Sanchong District, goes next to the bank of Damsui River, extends toward northwest, and then gets into Wugu District; however, Chouhou Village, located in the reserved area for the floodway, had to face the nightmare of relocating the village. Along with the construction of Erchong Floodway, “Chouhou Village” has disappeared in Taiwan and became a historical term. In 1968, the government announced “Northern Area Flood Control Project” and classified Chouhou Village as a “primary floodplain area”. In December 1973, the Ministry of Economic Affairs formally proposed “Taipei Area Flood Control Project Proposal” for building Erchong Floodway to help flood diversion. Until 1979, “Taipei Area Flood Control Project First Plan” was approved to start building Erchong Floodway around 1982 to 1984. The construction was developed in three phases and completed in 1996. The protected area includes Xinzhuang, Wugu, Sanchong, Luzhou, Taishan, Shulin, Tucheng, Yonghe, and Zhonghe in Taipei County. Lu Jiang Elementary School is located in Luzhou District and right next to Erchong Floodway; it is necessary that the local history is known and kept. Therefore, we hope, through the Cyberfair project, to help keep the local history better and to remind the local community of the importance of the history of Chouhou Village.

Project Description: Project Description: Chouhou Village was located in today’s Erchong Floodway. Due to the construction for flood control of the government, the entire village was forced to move to another place in 1984. Today, less and less people remember the history and original look of the Chouhou Village. For this reason, we would like to evoke memories of the forgotten history with this Cyberfair project “Rebuild the Village of Luti - Chouhou Village”. We hope to help people review the scenery of the simple village with the reappearance of the original look of the village. After Chouhou Village was forced to move, many elderly people died due to depression or anxiety, or suicide by drinking agricultural chemicals; however, these stories and voices are being forgotten along with time. Our team would like to “rebuild the village” to remind the world of the forgotten stories and retain the history to comfort the unforgettable painful years.
