Description of Our Community: Hamasen is located adjacent to Kaohsiung Harbor. A railway along the harbor went through a fish market in the area. The Japanese called the railway line "Hamasen". That was how the area derived its name. Nowadays, it is considered as a historic area and it has become one of the major attractions in Gushan District, Kaohsiung. However, some historic buildings and heritage are disappearing because of city development.

Project Description: The old street in Hamasen area was facing demolition. Some people established "Takko Renaissance Association" to help the residents in 2012. They dedicate themselves to heritage preservation. We have a chance to contact them and learned the residents' helpless situations. We want to follow their determination, "No demolition. No move. Guard Hamasen." We also hope we can do something for them. Therefore, we think we can put their stories on the website so that more people can join them.
