Description of Our Community: Cishan was called "Fan Shu Liau" before, and was very suitable for banana cultivation in agriculture. According to the records, Cishan’s cultivation of banana started from 1925. Cishan was ever known as "Banana Kingdom" because it grew many good-quality bananas. In Cishan, in addition to its good bananas, sugar business (sucrose made from Cane) had brought great profits from the Japanese colonial era to the post-war era. Today, Cishan’s sugar mill has mainly turned into tourist attraction for ice selling. In Cishan, there are many historical monuments and delicious snacks. During holidays, visitors like to visit Cishan to explore its culture and history, and taste delicacies.

Project Description: Matsu Temple in Cishan has nearly two-hundred-year history, and it is the monument of Kaohsiung. Matsu Temple is located in the central Cishan, and has a very close relation with local development. In this research, we will further look into the developing history of Matsu Temple. By interviewing with local people, or seeing into the inscription personally, we will see the fascinating history of Matsu Temple. In addition, the architecture of Matsu Temple is worth our attention, because every carving or decoration of Matsu Temple has its significance.
