Description of Our Community: Our school resides in Yunghe City, New Taipei City. It is located near the southeast part of the Taipei Basin and is linked by three bridges over the Xindian River. Yung Ho is as prosperous as Taipei city, and it is well known for its numerous small shops and attractions such as Korean Street, Weekend Farmers' markets, Yang San Lang's Museum and the World Religions Museum.

Project Description: In 2006, there was a small bookstore that quietly opened its doors. The bookstore owner said; “It exists to allow people who like books to have a comfortable place to stay. It exists to allow people who haven’t read books in a long time to know what it feels like to be close to books again and to feel the words and emotions contained within. It exists so that every book can find an owner who is willing to listen to the books words. It exists not just to buy and sell books, but also because books can create friendships and stir emotions.” The Small Small Bookstore was established in 2006. It is committed to improving the overall reading environment and allowing words to enter into everyone’s lives. The bookstore makes a great effort to the people of the community to get closers to words and to enjoy reading. Through the book club, anyone can easily enter the exciting world of literature and become a reader of high ability. In Yonghe the Small Small Bookshop is striving to become a platform for the arts and to distribute community publications. They also want to hold various events for the arts, occasional exhibitions, and seminars so that the public can discover and care about their surroundings through direct participation. Because of books, we have the Small Small Bookshop. Because of the Small Small Bookshop, we can find life’s passion and dreams. Because of passion and dreams, life becomes full and interesting. We hope that through doing research for this project, we can discover the joy of reading and develop a lifelong interest in reading. We want to discover the passion and dedication of the people of Yonghe by doing interviews and field studies. Also through visiting, experiencing and sharing, we would like to gain a new understanding of the community and to promote reading to both the students of the school and the residents of the community, allowing everyone to discover the fun in books.
