Description of Our Community: •Geographical Environment Longtan County is near the boarder between Tao Yuan Township and Sin Jhu Township. The transportation is convenient. And Longtan Township is full of wolds and the air is fresh. Longtan Oblation Furnace is also the landmark here. Longtan is so great to live.Longtan Township is the south of Tao Yuan Township, and the geographic area is 75.2372 square kilometer.Longtan neighbors upon Da Si township, Yang Mei Township, Fu Xing township, Xin bu township, Ba De township and Ping Jhen Township.So it has been the distributing center.And the area we will research is Long Tan Bi and Si Fang Lin. The area is in the center of Longtan.We marked the boundary the area on Longtan map, then we found it was much as a slug. So we called ourselves ?Little lovely slugs?. •Introductions of The Culture According to the bibliography or field investigations, Longtan Township has been developed from 1851A.D.The men, Lin Ben Yuan, cultivated from Dasi Township to Longtan Township. The soil in Longtan Township was not fertile,so Hoklo people left and Hakka people stayed. Longtan Township has been the industrious and thrifty Hakka people’s hometown.Long Tan Jhuang, Longtan Township’s name in preceding period,was a developed district, and the commercial center in norrth Taiwan.From 1750A.D, Longtan Township has been developed more than 200 years, there were several places of historic interest left,and lots of outstanding persons was famous,as the auther, Zhong Zao Zheng, the composer, Deng Yu Xian.
Project Description: According to the 2005’s investigation of the magazine “Common Wealth” , Longtan Township was the most unique county in Taiwan and was rewarded the second place of the characterful county , and was also rewarded the third place of the happiness county. Besides, Longtan Township is the top10 township for retired men. SO, we are so proud as a citizen of Longtan Township. And we want to visit the tourist attraction ,and want to be the tour guide to show all about our Township,Longtan . And we will share what we gained from the investigation to propagate “Longtan”.
