Description of Our Community: Sanxia is near a mountain and by a river. Sanxia Old Street is not only one of the longest old streets in Northern Taiwan, but also a rare complete traditional one with historical value. In the past, Sanxia Old Street was once the most prosperous street in Sanxia. The style of its arcades is Baroque architecture. Various words on the building fronts represent surnames, names, and shop names, and those signages are very different from today; however, with the time past, it's fading. Besides, those structures couldn't be rebuilt, the houses that damaged by rain and wind became dangerous buildings. Therefore, many local residents gradually moved away from here, the Street has been gradually scattered as well. In 2004, the government granted NT$ 300 million to fully renovated Old Street buildings and the streets, and to preserve its original style and features, TD-13 was especially applied.

Project Description: Our project is mainly about the Indigo Dye Factory next to History Museum in Sansia in New Taipei City. Many people may left this traditional art “Indigo Dye”behind, but its beauty impressed us who are multimedia majors. Indigo Dye is not only a traditional art in Sansia, but a symbol of the culture . To keep this alive and keep for future generations then for other countries is our duty .We named the project “Silent Visual Feast-Sanxia Indigo Dye” WE not only visited Indigo Dye workshop in person, but also did pieces of Indigo work on our own. We truly hope we can fulfill the theory of esthetics learned from school and more people understand the beauty of Indigo Dye through this research. In the project, we build a website to introduce Sanxia Indigo Dye, and through every one's brainstorming, we have many graphic design that are exclusive to the Indigo Dye workshop. We hope people are attracted by the unique beauty of Indigo Dye to keep the culture for next generation.
