Description of Our Community: Public art is now well combined with our daily lives in Taipei City, spreading around every individual the aesthetic atmosphere. The Taipei Metro System (or more commonly known as MRT) is the most important and effective public transportation venue in the city, carrying more than 1.5 million passengers every day. Sadly, most passengers simply walk by. Through the installation of public art, metro passengers and tourists learn to slow down their paces and appreciate these artworks displayed in metro stations, sharing the emotions and aspirations of the artists, experiencing the charm of nature as well as the beauty of the city, and being touched by the history of this city.

Project Description: This study centers on “Public art in Taipei Metro” and presents our favorite public artistic exhibitions along the Taipei metro system. We contacted the artists designing these artworks and invited them to interviews, during which topics such as an introduction to the selected exhibitions, an introduction to the artists, their career plans, focuses of work, life experiences and their own opinions were included.
