Description of Our Community: Changhua County Road No. 139 begins at Bagua Mountain Gate, past Yinhang Mountain, through the Bagua Mountain ridge lines, to Fengshan Temple in Nantou County, and finally ending at Houtanjing Leisure Area; it is 25 km long. This is the best place for riding a bicycle. Novices and everyone can hike here, because it is not steep, the road is wide, and there are not many cars; these characteristics have made it quite popular among riders. Here you can see the blooming paulownia flowers, and appreciate a snowfall of flowers in June, and can observe the Nanlu eagles soar through the sky. You can also see the lovely scenery in the countryside, with its red bricks, old walls, farms, courtyards, and can smell the fragrance of tea and pineapples.

Riding along County Road No. 139 relaxes one’s mind, throwing one’s worries to the skies, so no wonder it can attract so many people to participate. Coinciding with the national promotion of saving power and reducing carbon, and strengthening of physical body and nation, the cycling activity is doubtlessly the most suitable item for promotion. It is hoped that everyone can participate so that cycling becomes the sport most suited to Taiwanese people.

Project Description: After the Changhua County County Road No. 139 was broadened, it became easier to drive cars on this road. A national-grade bicycle lane was also established, quickly bringing more cyclists; there were especially large waves of cyclists on the weekends, up to a thousand. Regardless of morning or evening, or when the bright sun is directly above, you can see cyclists wearing full protective gear including helmets and kneepads, and men, women, young, and old all ride up and down on County Road No. 139.

WunDe Elementary School is located next to the national bike path - Changhua County Road 139. Every time we see bikers passing by the school or our village, we are often envious. We wonder: “When can we have the chance of roaring on the bike path?" Thus, we had an idea of visiting the neighbor of WunDe Elementary School - Merida Industry Co. in Dacun Village, Changhua County. WunDe Elementary School won the Platinum Award of Cyberfair 2009 - Businesses and Organizations Category, and students and teachers were received by President Ma Ying-jeou at the President’s Office on September 15, 2009. In the President’s Office, we saw a Merida Wolf 3 bike, which was the one that the President rode for the long-stay tour in Taiwan. We also had the idea to visit Changhua County Road No. 139 Bagua Mountain Bicycle Way.We received encouragement from the President and his signature. This consolidated the teachers and students to use the Changhua County Road No. 139 Bagua Mountain Bicycle Way to create a Cyberfair project. First, team members gain more understanding of scenic spots relating to bicycles on Changhua County Road No. 139, and ride along the path for information. Then, then, we visited The Society of Wilderness to have on-location understanding of issues relating to green map, and interviewed Merida Co. General Manager Tseng Song-ju to understand the corporate spirit, operations and management, and product marketing issues at Merida, and thanked them for the gracious act of providing discounts for brand new bicycles and apparel to Wende Elementary School. Third, we would interview and consult Magistrate Po-yuan Cho of Changhua County to learn more about biking promotion and the planning of County Road 139 for recreational and tourist development. We hope that this website could correspond with the government policy as to promote the county development provision.
