Description of Our Community: Dachu Community, Fengyuan Township, Changhua County, is located on the Bagua Plateau, at an elevation of 360m, which is the highest settlement in the County. Changhua County has flat terrain, thus is suitable for bike-riding. Given such advantage in the topography, Changhua County ranked number one in many aspects in the bicycle industry in Taiwan, including the highest percentage (2/3) of bicycle assembly factories, the longest biking trail (250km), the highest density of biking population, the first bicycle theme park, and the highest prize (a bicycle worth of $159,000 NTD) ever offered in the bicycle competition.

Project Description: Wende Elementary School is located near the bicycle path of County Road No. 139. The students have always admired the bikers. Therefore, we are motivated to conduct a project research on the manufacturing of bicycles. The project team visited the bicycle manufacturer in Dacun Township, Changhua County – Merida, in order to learn about the company history, business missions, the manufacturing process of bicycles under the theme of “I Ride, Love Ourselves, Love the Earth”. We also interviewed Magistrate Bo-yuan Cho of Changhua County to discuss about the promotion of biking exercise and the planning of County Road No. 139.
