Description of Our Community: Hualien is a beautiful place and is also the largest County in Taiwan. The scenery in Taiwan remains beautiful and natural because many places have not yet exploited.

Because of the inconvenience of the traffic, many places in Hualien remain unexploited, and also Hualien is called the back yard garden of Taiwan. Younger generation often works outside of the place and leaves their children to grandfathers and grandmothers to take care of. Thus, grand parenting is a common situation here. Because of this, elderly people cannot totally know how the students do in schools. Sometimes, they don’t even know if the children have gone to school or not, which leads to the serious problems of dropout students, or even delinquent juveniles in Hualien.

Project Description: Minister Huang MingZhen studied theology after he graduated from Central Police University, served in Taipei County for a few years and studied abroad. After he finished his theology study, he served in America for several years and then came back to Taiwan and served in the prison to counsel prisoners.

Recently, Taiwanese prisoners have sent to prison many times since they are in childhood. Therefore, Youth Academy in Guanfu Township Hualien County was established to take in delinquent juveniles, victims of domestic violence or other unfortunate children. Influence them by Christ’s love and let them walk on a decent path to reduce crime rate.

More than a hundred people have graduated from Youth Academy. They abide by the law, behave themselves and have a normal life. Four of them have gotten admission to colleges and are now studying.
