Description of Our Community: Hualien has always been a place where people look forward to going, and are reluctant to leaving. When you drive along the East Rift Valley, one side is the Coastal Mountain Range, the other side is the vast crystal blue ocean. The topography, the soil of the Coastal Mountain Range varies considerably, and as you go farther inside, you will find caves, towering canyons, clear streams, an abundance in flora and fauna ecological resources, and as you go up stream on a higher spot, you can have an even much better view of the big ocean from afar. Hualien’s unique ecological resources are nature’s gifts to her. Entering the forest zone, you can see deeper into the Coastal Mountain Range and the mysterious veil of the East Coast, and the varieties of its’ ecological and geological resources. The forest zone possesses diverse ecological resources, magnificent landscapes, biological resources, types of habitat, up to the cultural heritage and all other things endemic, blend well with the local customs and feelings, their compilation conforms with localization and is suitable for the people of Hualien for making ample use of the forest ecosystem management plan, and put it into effect, implementing it for the people’s welfare.
Project Description: Forest ecosystem management plan unites multi-scaled land levels as planning units with managerial scope’s strategies, for the purpose of ensuring life-time continuing development of protecting the diverse resources of the forest, the main essence is using “adaptive management”. The forestry management strategies during the early days in Taiwan emphasized on economic benefits and land protection, and when the concept of nature reserve and environmental educational work had began to be given emphasis, forestry’s life-time production and the conservation of various kinds of living things become increasingly important. The present forestry management’s point of view not only adopts economic importance to consideration, but also it needs to expand to ecology, protection, education, society and everything from all sides and diverse areas. And our topic will be taking our viewers into understanding the bureau of forestry and its’ various works, and hope that everyone will have a better understanding of their importance.
