Description of Our Community: Neihu District is one of Taipei City's twelve districts. Neihu's attractions include Dahu Park, famous for its picturesque footbridge, and Bishan Temple, a large Taoist temple dedicated to Chen Yuanguang on the mountainside that affords a panoramic view of Taipei. In the vicinity of Bishan Temple are a number of other Taoist and Buddhist temples, as well as orchards and fruit farms where tourists can pick their own fruit. An extensive network of hiking trails criss-crosses the mountainous regions of the northern part of Neihu.

Project Description: The Taipei Metro Nei-hu Line is a Phase 2 Brown Line extension currently under construction. The line is a medium capacity system, most of which is on an elevated corridor except near Sung-shan Airport. When completed, it will have a total length of 14.8 km and will connect directly to the Mu-zha Line, providing transfer to Nei-hu, Nan-gang and Mu-zha. It is expected to be finished in June, 2009. Our project aims to examine the construction of it and discuss the effects it will have on the people. In order to combine the scenery and culture of Nei-hu, there is a rich diversity in the construction and design of part of the stations. Take Taipei Song-shan Airport Station for example, it is designed based on the theme “the story of flight.” Jian-nan Road Station is designed according to the theme “Mountain,” while Xi-hu Station is designed based on the theme “the Dance of Butterflies.”
