Description of Our Community: Although “The song and Story-Telling Club at Guang Fu Elementary School in Taipei has only been established for about two years, its reputation has already been resounding. There have even been students who won prizes at contests! The organization has had the luxury of having the renowned “Prince of Bamboo-Clappers”-- Mr. Wen-Bin Lin as the instructor. Under his wing, we have not only become familiar with the structure of “Kuai Ban Shu”, we have also understood the beauty of phonology, the allusions of set phases and their usages. This has achieved tremendous results. During the process of Practicing “Zhu Ban Kuai Shu”, we have also been sparked to be enthusiastic learners of the study of “Zhu Ban Kuai Shu”. Even though it is a traditional art, what we will show is nothing like it.

Project Description: What is “Chinese Rap”? Well, in fact it’s “Zhu Ban Kuai Shu”! “Zhu Ban Kuai Shu” is the folk art of talking and singing which is part of the Chinese tradition. It’s the Peking accent with clear articulation in a mellow tone, and add bamboo clappers with sounds of “Pi Pi Pa Pa”, which makes it interesting, pleasant to hear and lively. “Zhu Ban Kuai Shu” is also the most vivacious and easiest to learn in the art of talking and singing. Children clap bamboo clappers, and tell enchanting stories with clear articulation in a mellow tone at the same time; to follow learning with a relaxed atmosphere. They learn lots of set of phrases, poetry, and elementary knowledge of the ancient Chinese civilization naturally. One can say that it serves many purposes and is the most delightful teaching method of the Chinese-speaking language. “Zhu Ban Kuai Shu” has been the ultimate characteristic of “The song and Story-Telling Club” at Guang Fu Elementary School in Taipei since it was established. Every time student menbers perform in a school event, they acquired numerous favorable comments. This time the special subject adopt the “Zhu Ban Kuai Shu” as its principal content, to interview senior performers, and to introduce its origin and the forms of performance of “Zhu Ban Kuai Shu”. In addition, the organization members will demonstrate and perform, to allow more people to be familiar with this traditional art.
