Description of Our Community: We’re going to present a project about Wan-Hua District in Taipei. Taipei is the capital of Taiwan. You can still find historic traces in this metropolis. Wan-Hua District is definitely a district you have to visit. It is in the west part of Taipei. Here you can see some old stores and shops that maintain the footprints and sweetness of the past. Dahesong Salico Enterprise Co., LTD. is one of them. It is established on the Po-Ai Road fifty years ago, selling pastry and candy. Until now, at the thought of Dahesong Salico, Taipei people will immediately recall the sweetness from their childhood memories. At the meantime, this company bonds Taiwan people and those who travel to other countries together with its historic flavors.
Project Description: Our project is to present an excellent business, Dahesong Salico Enterprise Co., Ltd., in our local community through our research, field trips, interviews, internship, and survey. A brief introduction is as follows.
The founder of Dahesong Salico, Ms. Pon Yu-Ho Chiu, imported “Nougat” from Hong Kong to Taiwan. Taipei people was first to get to taste this sweets. People in Taipei adored the happy sweetness since then. Her son, Mr. Yi-Jon Chiu retained this spirit, combining the sweetness from “Nougat” of Dahesong and the happiness from the wedding pastry of Salico, into his business; meanwhile he managed this company with steady and moderate styles that he made Dahesong Salico a very important role in the food industry in Taiwan, even renowned world widely.
We hope that through our project, we wish to pass down Taiwan people’s traditions and virtues of industriousness, stamina, perseverance, and filial piety to the next generation. Furthermore, through the web, we can share our findings, feelings, and close-ups about the local business with people from all over the world that they can know the beauty of Taiwan.
