Description of Our Community: Outline of Our Research Project

In this project we are going to explore two fascinating traditional Taiwanese crafts, dough sculpture and sugar blow.

Dough sculpture is a unique form of art originated in ancient China. In the eyes of the elders, it means memories from childhood. At that time, dough sculptures usually appeared in human figures, representing both art and history.

Sugar blow is also an unforgettable craft in folk culture. Only by full concentration can sugar work be presented lively.

These two traditional skills have gradually faded away and have been forgotten by the young generation. We hope by conducting this project, we can promote Taiwanese folk culture and let the world know Taiwan more.
