Project Description: Sports Blending with Art-The Folk Sports on Taiwan

In the past agricultural society in Taiwan, when the technology was underdeveloped, people treated the Chinese traditional folk Sports just like toys and games. Along the changes of social structure, the folk sports has moved from leisure activities toward artistic skills, then to performance, and eventually developed to aesthetics. In the past some thirty years, Taiwan has continuously promoted the folklore physical culture in all efforts. The Youth Folk Sports Group has visited various countries every year. It not only comforts the overseas Chinese, but also facilitates the international cultural exchange numerously. This project intends to record the process of the refinement of folk sports. By way of promoting the beauty of the folk physical culture, we expect to have mutual international interaction, and further to surge the new life of innovation, continuation, exploration, and development for the folklore arts.
