Description of Our Community: (Wah-mita-kagang-mangan)is Atayal traditional take a look on hairy crabs in fu-san. Fu-Shan comes from “Magan,” which means the beetling rock in Atayal language. It is a place where the majority of residents are Tayal people—a Taiwanese indigenous group who are courageous and confident about themselves. Magan, which Nanshi River runs through, is in the height between 400 and1400 meters. It has luxuriant creatures and the largest forest, “Fu-Shan Forest,” in Taiwan; therefore, it enjoys the name of “Taiwan Amazon.” Because of the slightly alkaline water and the wet and cold weather, the villagers develop their business on the aquaculture of Da-Ja crabs as well as the agriculture of Phyllostachys makinoi Hayata and organic vegetables. The residents thus benefit from it, even though they live in such inconvenient village.

Project Description: Students begin with the learning of their hometown in this project. By exploring the village and interviewing the people, they learn to understand the development and background of the livelihood in Fu-Shan. They learn to know they have to make efforts in this project, so that they can obtain fruitful results. By inquiring and analyzing data, they also learn to share their ideas and develop the Webpage on the tribal business. With the records on the local features (i.e., persimmons, crabs, etc.), we expect that this project will provide more opportunities for people to know our small village—Fu-Shan Village in Wu-Lai County.
