Description of Our Community: The Zuoying National Sports Training Center, the arena of Kaohsiung 2009 World Games and the modern multi-sports stadium (the Kaohsiung Dome) are in the Zuoying district of Kaohsiung.
The Zuoying district is an area with cultural richness, and its municipal development is progressing quite rapidly. It won the first prize for good administration in a recent national competition organized by the Executive Yuan of Taiwan.
The Zuoying district is in the north of Kaohsiung. It is bounded in the east by Sanmin district, south by Gushan district, and in the north by Nanzih district. Zouying faces west to the Taiwan Strait. There is a beautiful Lotus Pond in the Zuoying district and it is an important operation base for the Taiwan Navy. With the advantage of its location, communication between the District and the rest of the country and within the district itself is quite effective.
The Zuoying National Sports Training Center is located in Zuoying district. The Victory Camp Zone is used by the Center now has approved by the Executive Yuan, and it is undergoing careful planning. The total area of the Center is 37 hectares, all the facilities are built to national standards. The Center can provide training in more than 20 types of sports training. It is well-designed and is certainly one of the best training centers in Taiwan.
Project Description: The two topics we researched are "Zouying National Sports Training Center" and "The World Games in Kaohsiung". The focus of the two topics related to locations in Zuoying District of Kaohsiung City. The Zuoying National Sports Training Center is established to provide facilities for, among other things, the training of outstanding contestants while the the World Games in Kaohsiung is an event aimed at bringing honor and proud to Kaohsiung. It is also a unique opportunity for Taiwan to step into the international stage in sports, and a celebration of the victory of our sports diplomacy.
The development of sports in a country partly represents its power and spirit. The Zuoying National Sports Training Center in Kaohsiung plays a significant role in the development of sports in Taiwan. Every athlete who has won honor for Taiwan in international sports competitions have been trained at the center. Not only has the Zuoying National Sports Training Center contributed to the achievements of various excellent athletes, it is also as a cradle of national sports competitions. Behind the success are countless tears and sweat that are invisible to see.
After many years of hard training and dedicated spirit, our contestants finally won two gold medals, two silver, and one bronze in Athens 2004 Olympic Games. It elevates the national and international image of Taiwan and goes a long way to promote interests in sports on the Island. We hope that contestants currently training in the Center will continue to excel in their endeavors to win more medals at the Bejing 2008 Olympic Games, so that the world will see Taiwan even more!
