Description of Our Community: In the year of 1818, Chingtsaichia Salt Field, the first one in Peimenyu, Tainan County, was developed. It is the oldest extant salt field in Taiwan. Local salt makers built embankments and cultivated fields to produce salt. The salt produced here was sparkling white and of good quality—something the salt makers were proud of. By working diligently, the salt makers wrote a shining page in the salt-making history of Peimenyu.

Project Description: In the heyday, salt fields full of salt makers hard at work could be seen everywhere in Peimenyu. With the passing of time, however, the production of salt came to a halt here and the scene can no longer be seen. We hope that by visiting the salt fields here, our children can have a deeper understanding of the salt-making history of Peimenyu and thus deepen their love and care for the land where they grow up.
