Description of Our Community: The Shihlin Presidential Residence is next to Zhongshan N. Rd. which leads to the Office of the President, ROC. The place is full of trees and made itself particularly suitable for the former President Chiang Kai-Shek living and making decisions on important state events here. From the Main Entrance on Fulin Rd., one experiences the spell of a tranquil and serious atmosphere. In the past, the Main Entrance featured a security checkpoint, the guard commander’s room, and a reception room, and it was surrounded by electrical fences. All of the buildings were painted dark green, the camouflage color matching the surrounding trees. In the Shihlin Presidential Residence, you have the feeling of having entered a natural garden. Cicadas and birds pleasantly sing among fragrant flowers and squirrels run happily among the trees. The Rose Garden was Madame Chiang Song Mei-Ling’s most favorite place, in which she liked to walk and meditate. Opposite that garden, there are Chinese and Western-Style Gardens filled with various plants, which attract the people who want to take a rest or admire the panorama.

Project Description: Chiang Kai-Shek’s Shihlin Presidential Residence has become a popular visiting place since1996, attracting a large number of people every day. The place is appropriate for strolling and other leisure activities, as well as for physical exercises, extracurricular teaching, ecology studies and so on. This presentation enables you to have a look at the past, the present, and the future of the Shihlin Presidential Residence. You will be able to learn about the history of the place and the passions of the people who had inhabited it as well. This is the place that you should visit by all means!
