Project Description: Place Description: Chia-Yi village in Ma-Chia country, Pingtung country has a mountain called Li-Ting Mountain, having an altitude of 659 meters. It is not considered very high, but its mountain feature gives us a spectacular view all around. In its east side, we can appreciate the sacred Pai-Wan tribe in Ta-Wu mountain. In its west side, we can take in all the beauty along Kaohsiung city to Fang-Liao prairie. If we have a clear sky, we may even see the far away Hsiao Liu Chiu Island clearly.

Chia-Yi village is one of the few villages in Ma-Chia country that located near the plain without any mountain beauty fame. Fortunately, it has this easy to climb to sight-see Li-Ting Mountain and convenient transportation system.

Chia-Yi village has a formal name of?Ka Cha Kei Lan? during Japanese occupation. This formal name was replaced by Chia-Yi after Taiwan recovering. Chia-Yi village was one of the five tribes in Ma-Chia country during Japanese occupation. It was originally situated in the midway of the mountain, having a great view that worth a visit. Right now Chia-Yi village is located underneath Li-Ting Mountain. Its habitants are traditional Pai-Wan tribe. It has three eye-catching churches. In this quiet village, its one and only governmental learning institution is Chia-Yi elementary and other scattered traditional handcraft studios are looking forward to your visit.
