Description of Our Community: Kaoshiung is an important city for the development of baseball; many great baseball athletes are found here. Bai-Sheng Cheng is one of these great baseball athletes. He now lives in the school zone of Gui-Lin elementary School in Hsiao-Kang Area, Kaoshiung City, and is also a parent whose child attends that elementary school. He looks forward to pass down his baseball experience to baseball community in Taiwan, and wishes baseball in Taiwan to develop further so that baseball in Taiwan may shine in the world baseball society.

Project Description: Bai-Sheng Cheng, who is a former little league baseball player, was born in 1960 in Kaoshiung County. He joined Giants little league baseball team (Taiwan) during his elementary years in Tung-Hai Elementary School and became the number one batter in the team. In 1973, Giant entered Far Eastern Little League Championship. Cheng’s batting results were 14 safe hits in five games, including 7 home runs, and won Home Run King Award. When in the World Little League Championship game later on at the Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Cheng achieved 5 safe hits in the second inning along, including 2 home runs, sets a world record, and received a title of “Batting King”. We sincerely hope the development of baseball in Taiwan shall continue to prosper, baseball fans continue to support baseball sport, to unite the strengths in our communities, and bring new life to baseball sport together.
