Description of Our Community: Taiwan is an island country in the East Asia. From the terrestrial globe, off the eastern coast of Asia lie the mountainous island arcs of the Western Pacific. The island chain closest to the continent marks the edge of the Asiatic Continental Shelf, and Taiwan, part of this island chain, is the largest body of land between Japan and the Philippines. Taiwan is a small country with diversification of ecological distribution. Rhacophoridae breathe with skin and that's why they must exist under the moist circumstance. Because of the humidity and high tempurature in Taiwan, you can see Rhacophoridae anytime from the sea shore to Mount Jade, the highest mountain in Taiwan.

Project Description: The frogs in Taiwan are roughly divided into 31 categories. The characteristic categories of Taiwan tree frogs(Rhacophoridae)are divided into 7 categories only because of the low activities of tree frogs in Taiwan. In the glacial period, the tree frogs moved from China to Taiwan through the land bridge and settled down at the formosa for the mild climate all the year round and never went back to China again. The geography separation brings characteristic categories of Taiwan tree frogs, but other frogs like Ranidae, Micorphylidae, and Hylidae don't have the characteristic categories because of the high activity ability, the mass group, and the frequently interflow. We carefully selected 8 precious species of Taiwan characteristic categories for the field examination and data collection to record their current situation.
