Description of Our Community: Hualien is located in the eastern part of Taiwan. Hulaien is the largest city on the east coast and the smallest population density. It is a center for tourism, as it is close to Taroko Gorge, the East Coast, and the Hua-Tong Valley.

In recent years, National Dong Hwa University, located in Shou-Feng, Hualien County, is the first comprehensive university in the east coast of Taiwan. One of the specialties the University sets out to develop is the research and teaching of natural resource conservation and national high-tech development. Therefore, by doing this- “Eastern Taiwan’s K-12 Promoting and Training Center for Nano-Science and Technology” project, students can realize and have a further understanding about the relationship between the center and eastern local development.

Project Description: Nano is the highest and hottest Science and Technology in the world. In Taiwan, people from all walks of life are dedicating to promoting the related projects. In National Dong Hwa University, the K-12 Promoting and Training Center for Nano-Science and Technology is established in order to cultivate diversified, creative, worldwide, intellectual, and innovative talented people. Therefore, in the K-12 project, the aim is to encourage pupils to realize and have a further understanding about what Nano is and how close the relationship between the Nano-Science and Technology and their daily lives by probing into understanding this center and the organization.
