Description of Our Community: Baseball is a very popular sport in Taiwan. Our amateur junior baseball teams have won the world champion title many times. Many talented players used to seek professional baseball career in Japan or America. The professional baseball leagues, however, did not appear until 1990. Since then, there have been ups and downs in the development of the professional baseball. In 2002, Taiwan team won the bronze medal in the baseball world cup. The excellent performance of a young player, Juang Ji-Jia, brought the whole nation to the baseball fever again.

Project Description: This year, we celebrate the 14th anniversary of the professional baseball leagues in Taiwan. We have been through the heated baseball seasons, the gambling scandals involving players, and the glory of the baseball world cup. The fiery competition between the two baseball leagues, CPMBL and Naluwan, triggered the corruption of baseball players and the decline of the number of baseball fans. With the victory of the baseball world cup, in January 2003, the two leagues merge; CPMBL becomes the only professional baseball league, opening the new baseball season and new era in Taiwan professional baseball.
