Description of Our Community: In the past, tea was once the main export, supporting Taiwan's economy. The plants grow in mountains in the northern and central Taiwan, a homeland of several renowned kinds of tea. Tea has been with Taiwanese people for ages and become a national beverage. The ancient drinking hobby is still fashionable even in modern Taiwan.

Project Description: Tea is an essential agricultural product for Chinese. In ancient China, tea leaves are even main source of vegetable consumption. In Taiwan, during the Dutch occupation in the early 17th century, tea became the source of foreign exchange earnings. Based on different methods used to process tea leaves, Taiwan developed various kinds of tea, which played an important role for the island's economy. The program will discuss in detail different categories of Taiwan made tea. And we hope through this report we may show how representative tea means to Taiwanese history.
