Description of Our Community: (briefly define our selected local community) ::::Brief Description of Luchow:::: Luchow is formerly known as [Ho Shang Chou (Monks County)], because this place was the site of Kuandu Machu Temple opposite the Tamsui River and the monks in the temple had to cross the river to collect rent, thus the name. It was also known as [Hou Shang Chou], which means river is county. During the Japanese Time, because there were flocks of egrets resting on the riverbank, so it was called [Lu Chow Chuang (egret county village)]. It was changed to [Luchow Town] in 1947 because there was overgrowth of reeds on the riverbank. Due to change system, it was again changed as [Luchow City] on October 6, 1997

Project Description: (briefly describe ours project) [Nostalgia on the past culture, creating new century love] is the deeper retrospection on the humanistic meaning of Luchow is "Lee Mansion" towards the advanced society. :::Luchow Lee Mansion::: , the old home of the Lee Family was built in 1857 (the 7th year of Emperor Shien Feng, Ching Dynasty) by Lee, Chuo-Fu. It was located at Tien Tsai Wei (Field`s Tail), Luchow, which the old people called it [Tien Yeh Mei (Beautiful Field)]. The original building was a [woven bamboo with mud wall] structure, with 60 rooms, 9 living rooms, and 120 doors. The gate of the old mansion had an inscription of [Wai Han] was written by Lo, Shiu-Hui, a successful candidate in the provincial examination during the Ching Dynasty. There was a half moon lotus pond in front of the mansion and a small river passing through the Tamsui River. The Lee Mansion has been well-maintained up to this day, a typical building of family tribe in the traditional agricultural village in Taiwan.
