Description of Our Community: Festive Lanterns, was the old folk spread for a long time in Chinese, which origin can be trace back to two thousands years ago of Han Dynasty. After Tang and Song dynasty, the custom which people enjoy the sight of the lanterns were bright as day on the lantern festival every year is going prevailing by year. For example "Shue Kong Plays the Festive Lantern" is a very famous popular story known to every family and household in Chinese. The Lantern Festival of Beang-Jing, capital of Song dynasty, was most famous. The well-known poet of South-Song dynasty named Xin Qiji. wrote a poetry "Green Jade Desk" said: "During the night, the east wind blows the blossoms from a thousand trees, the stars are like rain. Lovely horse carts fill the roads, flutes fill the air, the lanterns glimmer and spin, fish and dragons dance in the night. The moths and the snowy willows with their golden branches, sweet laughter floats in the darkness. Searching for her hundreds of times in the crowds, when I suddenly turn, she stands under the lantern's dim light. " And we can image how magnificent the impressive grand sight of Lantern Festival was at that time. For thousands of years, generation after generation of Chinese people celebrated the Lantern Festival year after year. And the custom of viewing festive lanterns was dateless for years past by. The Culture authorities of all the different levels of government always hold either large of small Lantern Festival Show at the time of Chinese Year. Thus it can be seen festive lanterns is a very important folk custom artistry.

Project Description: Teacher Lee Hsiao-Ming is the full-time teacher who teaches the fine arts of Min-Sheng Junior High School, and he also is the director-general of "Association of the Chinese Festive Lanterns." Lee does not only makes his own lanterns, but to conduct many students to how to made festive lantern. An accomplished disciple owes his accomplishments to his great teacher. Lee's students usually got good achievements. On our web pages, we will introduce the learning, creation and education process of Teacher Lee, and also show many pieces of Lee's creations to user. Besides we will illustrate how Lee's efforts to concerning about the Chinese traditional folk custom artistry that is lack of new generations to inherit make festive lantern.
