Description of Our Community: Our project is the result of cooperation among students from different high schools. As there are more than 6,000,000 people living in Taipei district, it is difficult to find a common (geographical) local community for the schools participating the Taipei WetNet. Therefore, our 'local community' has been defined as high school students participating scientific and environmental clubs in Taipei district.

Project Description: The wetland of Taipei district has various kinds of niches and a diverse biota. However, it also faces serious anthropogenic disturbances. Observations and studies on wetlands in this district is urgently needed. The Wetland Ecology Monitoring Network for Senior High School Students in Taipei (Taipei WetNet¡^was founded in May 1998 to stimulate people's concern on wetland ecology and to strengthen the cooperative relationships among clubs from different senior high schools. Now we present our achievements as an annual report.
