Description of Our Community: In 1921, the Taiwan Culture Association was established. In only a few years, under the influence of cultural movements in Taiwan, Taichung also reaped the benefits and achieved the fame as "the city of culture." As there were more people joining the cultural movements from Taichung State than from other areas , and Taichung State also held cultural movements with the highest frequencies, Taichung City became the capital of Taichung State.

Project Description: The Taiwan Culture Association aimed at developing cultures. To awaken Taiwan's national consciousness and enlighten thinking, local sub-organizations were also formed. Newspaper-reading associations were organized; youth associations, women's groups, farmers associations were set up; association publications were issued. Also, summer schools, Culture Bookstore, the Central Bookstore, the Ta-tung Trust took forms to promote new literature, reform plays, and travel to the countryside to preach culture. All this was directed to the development of Taiwan's unique cultures.
