Description of Our Community: Kaohsiung, located in the south of Taiwan, is full of subtropical tint in its weather. It is warm all the year round. In the suburb, you can see the boundless field in the far place as you enjoy the beautiful red flowers and the green shrubs which slip away from you. The gulf and coral coasts also radiate its unusual beauty.

Kaohsiung is a second large cosmopolis in Taiwan. It is famous for the harbor and the heavy industry. The processing export zones, petroleum chemistry, mechanical industry and ship-building industry play an important part in the making of economic miracle of Taiwan.

Kaohsiung, convenient on land and air transportation, is the pivot of southern Taiwan. With the advantage of the third large container harbor in the world, Kaohsiung is moving onto the way of becoming a transit center in the Far East. And in the near future, it will connect Hong Kong and Shanghai to form a golden triangle.

Project Description: As Kaohsiung plays a vital role in southern Taiwan, Kuei-Hi Tseng leads the southern Taiwan in the social reform movement. Being a social leader, Dr. Tseng is both a medical doctor and a poet. Due to the long term devotion to Taiwan environmental protection and large sums of donations, Dr. Tseng is referred to as ¡§Green Godfather of Southern Taiwan.¡¨

Dr. Tseng likes to write poems and has published many poetical works. His friends consider him to be a young man with literary disposition. Though he is not famous in political circle of southern Taiwan, his humanistic consideration and philosophical thought have a far-reaching influence on the development of social movement in southern Taiwan.

We hope we can give our society and young people a different underlying understanding and expectation through Dr. Tseng`s medical practice, literary works, efforts and difficulties to build new parks and to protect the environment, and through the comments of his friends and colleagues on Dr. Tseng.
