Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

In our project, the range of “Local Community” is Taiwan. Taiwan is a small country next to China. We are a beautiful island. Although, we are only a small dot on the map, we are filled with incredible and unique specialties you will never ever find anywhere else in the world.

2. Summary of Our Project

On our website we have seven categories plus contact page. On the first page we talk about Taiwan today. Second page we talk about every special animals in Taiwan. Third page is plants. Forth page is about night market. Next, it’s about the Natives from Taiwan. Each has their own specialties from others. And some special temples we want to introduce you to. Also Taiwan has one of the prettiest railroad around the world.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

1. Having the need to cut down members. 2. Not having the access to internet. 3. Translating Chinese into English.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

A total new experience to all of us, and a way to learn more about our community.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

1. We learnt how to make a website. 2. Delegation of responsibilities. 3. We figured that Taiwan's education limits us with creations doing this improved us in ways our original educational system. 4. Making our project on the computer is very different. Normally we study with paper, books and a pen. Now we get to compete with other countries abroad. We encountered more challenges. At the same time, we had advantages from the internet world.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

1. We used 6 table computers in total. 2. We watched the news to help us locate recent problems. 3. We filmed our own introduction and put it on contact page. 4. We checked out books from the library to gather more information. 5. We had computers as our most important tool. But the most valuable, unique tool was how we are all so different and found a way to participate in this together, and became best buddies.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

We interviewed all the foreign teachers and asked them what is the best thing they like about our community and the comparison between their mother communities.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Our project made people realize why once we were call Formosa, the beautiful island.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

1. He transferred from another class, and had no group. We discovered he was actually useful. And had connection across the place, with that helped us through many difficulties. Like computer challenges and other problems. 2. Our teacher was also a great help for us.
