Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

A mountain villa area in San-Chih township which almost abandoned since the embarrassed distance to the urban area unexpectedly has been remoulded to be a particular art village by a smart couple and by means of promoting a LOHAS life style, some of their friends move here togather to enjoy the different way of human life.

2. Summary of Our Project

From a ruin to a colorful and friendly village,a miracle happend through people who are living here not for chasing money but only want to manifest a LOHAS dream, even though the New Taipei City Tourism Bureau has ever intended to develop the village a sightseeing place but the residents still insist to maintain the peaceful enviroment. They present a new living style to share the art and experience of life istead of the objective artwork.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:21-50%

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:more than 6

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dedicated connection

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:4-6

E. Additional comments concerning your computer and/or Internet access (Optional):

Mainly the home PC connected to school monopoly server(ftp://163.30.181.17)which contain all the necessary software in order we could work both at home and school, meanwhile the art work can be upload to the server whenever we want. The monopoly server is indeed the platform for information collection, communication and dilivery.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

There are some problems need to be overcome since lack of experience, actually its our first time to design a cyber page. Skill: the students are not familiar to the design of cyberpage, all we can do is trying and ask the teacher’s guidance. Time: we do not have enough time to make it except relative course in school so that we cannot help but have to take advantage of leisure time even in holiday. Coordination: every individual has his/her own opinion, it’s a task to communicat among members for a compromise. Information: it’s often occured that the shortage or the repeat of information, some one has to reorganize it. Interview: we don’t have enough experience to interview somebody, questionare need to be proposed in advance but during the actual process we still keep open to alternative situation. Reference: None of each memeber has the experience of attending such a international contest, we discuss consistantly and explore awarded site to fill the gap of above problems.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

By means of attending the CyberFair and building a complete website, all the members have learned the beauty of architeture in ChiBer Villa and what is LOHAS, In additioanl we promote a new life exercise, the combination of Taiwanese art and community, to a global veiw.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

The project members are belong to the students who major in “Information Program”, the training is including language, program and business, through the experience of attending the CyberFair we can not only give a practice but also exam the study of students.

The students have no experience at the construction of website but by this chance they ackownledge the whole system of Cyberpage likes the collection of information, Marketing and program skills as well as the learning by cooperation. Besides, they catch a concept of what a LOHAS is! They ,the Information Program students, are pioneers of School and need lot of training and practice. But unfortunately our educational system actually offers very few oppertunity for them to coordinate with other subject and practice. More effort to improve the system is very necessary. In spite of the system problem, internet offers a perfect platform to catch and share the information rapidly and just compensate the shortage of traditioanl school system.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

The tools as following help us to collect, record, organize the data base and accomplish the site, they are 30sets of desk PC, 1 verticle server, 30 sets of mobile phone, 3 digital cameras, 4 sets of software and 3 times of interview. All of the computers, server, softwares are the property of school what are installed in the computer classroom and instrument room, besides above we use our private computer and phone at home or carried. Computers and software are the precious and main equipment in this project, without them we may not present any excellent performance in front of you.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

As soon as we fix the subject to visit ChiBer Villa, a proposal for interview and information collection have been made without difficulty since there are 3 of our members are the resident there. During the process of interview, we build a good relationship with the residents, they kindly supply the information, accept the interview and allow us to participate their living activities, further more, help us to accomplish the projcet. It’s the first time we taste the manna from the combination of art and life, we recognize what is LOHAS, we are so glad to introduce the successful community remoulding experience to the world by the way of this CyberFair, the subjet is “ LOHAS in ChiBer Villa”.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

For attending the CyberFair and design the webpage, we breakthrough the textbook to challenge the issue of community, we attempt to indicate the concept to the world that a lifestyle can be molded doubtless. By the interaction with Villa residents, we are getting close to each other, and they feel so likely to assist us to achieve the projcet and give the more information they can do.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Teacher HUANG is the soul of ChiBer Villa, she owns a kindergarten and a lodging house, some other lodging houses and resturants moved in the Villa area are lead by her introduction. Every restaurant or lodging building is constructed and designed by its owner, that is the most obvious trait of ChiBer Villa. The householders exchang the information and establish friendship with each other firmly. So that it is not difficult to obtain information, if you ask one householder and you will get more response of others. Why can they live togather in such a harmony atmosphere? The reason is the common ideal of LOHAS. They offered abundant information including photos and blogs with the permission of copyright, also entertained us with hospitality. Herewith our highly appreciation to all the interviewers in ChiBer Villa.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

Tremendous progress has been made through this practice, even the members experienced the weakness of ablities such as programing, interview, organization and so on. Nevertheless, when we found the result of teamwork among the Villa’s residents and how they remoulded a ruin to be a artists village, we learned the spirit of enviromental protection as well as the importance of cooperation.
