1. Description of Our Community

Shi hu has a beautiful name. You can see a maple shape, when you looked down from the sky. It is located in the middle of Changhua . In these couple decades, mutton hotpot, Military Park have continuously grown and become the main tourist sites in Shi hu.

2. Summary of Our Project

At Shi hu Town “Mutton hotpot” is the famous nutrition food. Student will visit mutton hotpot store. Let students know why “Mutton hotpot” is so popular and specialty.

Our school offers special computer class with ADSL. Our work is all done in the computer class.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

1.Appointment: When we arrived the store, because we have not yet book appointment with the owner ahead of time, we usually delay our interview schedule. Moreover, we learned one vital experience is that we need to arrange the entire owner in advance by telephone booking. Therefore, organization helps us doing this research much quicker and controlled. 2.Technical problem: there are not many guests willing to do the survey with us, which makes this research another hard task. We were wondering why the guests not willing to do the survey with us, but we figure out that we wear a logo identification. And we explain to the guests what we are and we do with smile on the face. It turns out the survey is extremely pleasing. 3.Language: Students use mandarin during the interview, but only few goat hotpot owners’ use Taiwanese for reply. Sometimes, when we get into language conflict, teachers play as a translator in there. 4.Timing: The goat hotpot owners usually inform us how decent they are, which frequently delay our interview schedule. In controlling the timing, we failed in the beginning. Nevertheless, we learned how to organize interview content, and focus the main question, so that we shorten the interview schedule and we got all the information that we have to know. 5.Expense: At first, we will need to collect some funds to purchase goat hotpot. But with some warm support by the parents, we solve the problem by sponsoring. 6.Others: one of the students who have participated is a ball member; another student is a swim member. Occasionally, these two student’s schedule does not coordinate with other students, yet, they are welling to attend and negotiate so that the research is finished.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

After this mutton hotpot topic research plan, I think Mutton hotpot can be another vital attraction in the town of Shi hu. 2003and 2004 is the year of goat, during this International Schools CyberFair project ; I felt very happy and good fortune. I wish through this web site will make the town of Shi hu famous.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

We’ve been to every mutton hotpot store, people that are feeding goats, goat market, science world, library, Chinese doctor, and Chinese medicine store for the interview. We wish having this topic research plan, so that the interviewee able to have better understanding about mutton hotpot.

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

The computer is the main technology in the topic research plan. Others like camera, digital camera, recorder, scanner, CD burner, photo shop, copy machine, telephone, cellular phone, and simple web design,tape recorder:for interview. “Creativity” plays the hardest part during the research, yet it is the nearly all valuable tool. However, creativity brings the energy…………….

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

1.Produce Logo of Mutton Hotpots:This is designed for high lightening this famous food. 2.We made friends from all over the country. Through the discussion board on our website. 3.Interview :We’ve been to every Goat hotpot store, people that are feeding goats, goat market, science world, library, Chinese doctor, and Chinese medicine store for the interview. We wish havingthis topic research plan, so that the interviewee able to have better understanding about mutton hotpot.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

1.Shool:In between with teachers and students, we feel strongly having goat as our research plan topic. Students have a lot of discussion with the goat. Even, school prepared lot of mutton hotpot logo contest and surveys.And we are trying to do is to promote our local specialties by introducing them through the Internet as much as we can. 2.student:I just realized that goat has numerous categories and functions, yet I only thought about eating mutton hotpot before. I learned about cooking steps, idioms of goat, and goat function. I am almost becoming a goat doctor.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

On all of our visits to the mutton store,storekeepers answered our questions in details.The storekeeper Yang-zai-to Mutton also graduated from our school.A visit to the meat market,we had a look at goat sale in the meat market,where Manager Huang passed some tips on to us .We visited some pharmacists of Chinese medicine.We learned a lot about Mutton Hotpot is absolutely health -oriented.We like to thank Mr. Yang zon-fang, at the Town Hall, provided us with all the data and references and tell us about the oldest mutton hotpot store in town.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

Druing the interview, we find that there are a lot of travelers visit Shi-Hu just for mutton hotpot. So to develop the Shi- Hu town by mutton hotpot is not impossible. After tasting the mutton hotpot, you will know about what’s different in Shi-Hu mutton hotpot.
