Youth Worldwide Become Digital Story Tellers Showcasing Local Community Achievements
Based on the theme “Share & Unite” this program strengthens school-community relationships, as students conduct research about their local community and its resources, and then publish the results on the Web. Now in its tenth year, this program has involved one million students from 100 countries.

Doors to Diplomacy
Scholarships, Cash & Trip to Wash DC!
The U. S. Department of State is sponsoring the "Doors to Diplomacy" educational challenge - to encourage middle school and high school students around the world  to produce web projects that teach others about the importance of international affairs and diplomacy. Each student team member of the winning “Doors to Diplomacy” Award team receive a $2,000 scholarship, and the winning coaches’ schools each receive a $500 cash award. The State Department sponsors a trip to Washington, DC where the winners receive a private tour of the State Department facilities, meet with key officials, and participate in a special award presentation ceremony. GeoGame
Participate in an interactive online geography game!
GeoGame helps students learn geographic terms, how to read and interpret maps, and increases their awareness of cultural diversity. GSN has supported GeoGame since 1991 with email sessions offered in the Fall, Winter and Spring of each school year. Learn more
 

International NewsDay
Funded in part by Robert H. Michel Civic Education Grants
Students become involved in international affairs as they create their own newspaper based on articles by global student correspondents. Have your students ever created a newspaper of their own?   Would they like to?  In the Newsday Project, students write articles and post them for the whole world to see!  Then they read and choose articles from other schools to download and include in their own newspaper!  Students' reading and writing skills will improve while they learn about current local, national, and global issues.  Newsday currently takes place twice each year. Kids Cope by Sharing Hope
Students can collaborate by sending their messages of hope, support, and condolences to those affected by the September 11th tragedy. Scanned drawings and digital photos that convey hope and support are also accepted and published. Learn more
