Project Overview

1. Description of Our Team

Our team members are Queenie, Julienne, Marianne and Jarlene. Queenie, 15, is a girl that is our friend who always gives advice when we have problems and when someone or somebody is hurting us she won’t let it down and she will fight for us what ever it takes. Julienne, 14, acts differently because she always changes her mood like every minute but she is a lovable girl that is crazy. She is the type of girl that is loved by everyone and sometimes she is noisy when she is with us. Marianne, 14, she is our member that is always like bad mood because she is irritated easily and hot tempered but when you really meet her and be close with her she is a reliable and happy friend. Jarlene, 14, she is the smartest of us four but we treat her equally. She can be crazy and sometimes serious and also she can be reialable at all times. We joined as a team to spread our talent through out the world and can be a cure to a problems and can be friend to all. We divided our work for the sake of to finish this at time and can be a help to all. our team is not only for this project it is about caring for the environment, understand every problem and loving the environment for the sake of the welfare. Our coach is Mr. Vincent Tabor, he contributed well in our project because he is always there for us when we need help and he is teaching us to do things for this project and how well can we do it. May this project of our team may contribute well to be helpfu in the future and can always be reliable and resourceful for people who are in need.

2. Summary of Our Project

Our project is about the pollution here in the Philippines and how we can solve it. We will discuss the kinds of pollution here in our country and how other countries helped and are helping in solving this. We will have some researches about the percentage of air pollution in our country.As it defines pollution is the introduction of contaminants into a natural environment that causes instability, disorder, harm or discomfort to the ecosystem i.e. physical systems or living organisms. This pollution is caused by pollutants which is a waste material that pollutes air, water or soil. Here in the Philippines the main pollution is Air Pollution. Air Pollution is the introduction of chemicals, particulate matter, or biological materials that cause harm or discomfort to humans or other living organisms, or cause damage to the natural environment or built environment, into the atmosphere. Air Pollution here in the Philippines as we researched nearly killed 5,000 people in Metro Manila only. Water Pollution is also a problem in our country. Water demand is increasing rapidly, but grouped water management, weak enforcement of regulations, and poor planning are preventing adequate responses. Water pollution is degrading our country’s groundwater, rivers, lakes and coastal area. Hazardous and toxic waste disposal is a major challenge in maintaining water clean because some are being thrown in the water. Some answers to this problem are already being done. Recycling, expansion of urban environment services, improving water supply and wastewater treatment. Just as stated awhile ago how can other countries help us? Well the World Bank is supporting the Philippines for the expansion of sanitation services.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

We have to overcome some obstacles in doing and accomplishing this project. We need to overcome this obstacles to learn some things. One of the obstacles that we have overcomed was the minimal time. When we were doing this project we encountered stress and the limited tme, so we needed to rush it. In order to succed in accomplishing this project we strived hard and we have done some researches to complete the information in our website. Another obstacle is lack of ideas because it is hard to give such deep ideas concerning our topic. That’s why we need some sources of our topic. Another is some of the information on people who live in polluted areas. We need to know what is there insite about the pollution thatv they are experiencing..

5. Our Project Sound Bite

“DO YOUR BEST AND GOD WILL DO THE REST” -In this quotation it says that when we have a challenge in life we must face it and do our best so that God will help us. -Our participation in this project is not only meant for the students but to all (students, school, and community). It is because our project is about the pollution, they must also be aware of our topic. Our project performs how to prevent pollution, it is kinds and the areas that is mostly pollution has the number of cases.

6. How did your activities and research for this Doors to Diplomacy Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

It supports the required course work and curriculum standard by means of the knowledge picked by student and other people. There are skills that students can learn because they can do things themselves, like help preventing pollution themselves. We have also practice group concepts that helped us in this project. Through this project we have the better understanding of what is a Diplomacy and International issue. For us Diplomacy is a website that involves education, health and awareness, pollution, and others, and International issues are issues concerning the world that we need to stop. In this project the use of internet has been very significant for us, because It has more information and the internet has more advance teachings and learning for students.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your Doors to Diplomacy project?

Here are the tolls and technologies that we have used in our project: • TV and radio stations - we gather recent information on the pollution. • Video and other teleconferencing- we look at different videos to describe pollution. • Computer software – we do the website • Libraries- searching some key words, and gathering data that we will put in our website. • Books, news paper- same as libraries.

? We located each toll in our community, school and our homes. ? The only thing that we use in our school is our computer laboratory that is provided. ? The most valuable is the Computer Software, because here we can do everything, like gathering data etc. ? Actually all of the technolohies mentioned was really helpful, because if we don’t have this kinds of tools and technologies we won’t be able to complete or project.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your Doors to Diplomacy project both on-line and in person.

Ambassadors means to represent a thing for the common good. For us to be an ambassador in our project is hard but fun, we will be good and teach people on how will we prevent or stop the problem we have. We will impart our knowledge with the people who will visit our website and we will make sure that if they leave our site they will surely be happy about the information they got. We will discuss to them about the things that we will do and want to do first in our community and next in our city then in our country and laslt in the world. As they say that the end is near (2012) we want to tell people that we can still do something about this. It is our advocacy to tell them that if we will clean our surrondings we can still have another year to come and may also prevent global warming. Our topic is all about pollution and pollution is the contamination of the environment in waste such as garbagge and others. We will discuss what does Water, Air, Solid, and Noise pollution can do to our mother earth, what are the causes of these types of pollution and how does it affects the earth and we will also state on how to prevent these kinds of situations and if wecould stop this. As ambassadors, we will discuss the pollution in our country, the Philippines, and the pollution all over the world. We will assure evry one that they will appreciate the things that we will do. And we will also share to all if we will get some donations from the visitors of our website that contacts us indicated in our website, will help our country and the world.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Our project can make a great impact on the community, because with our website we can help them avoid or prevent any kind of problem involving pollution. Our website can provide them ways to avoid these problems like garbage disposal or waste management and tree’s being recovered. And if our website may not have been up very long and not updated, we can still help through recommending programs and activities to our community. And share or impart our knowledge on how to make our environment clean. Our website may have strengthened our relationship between our school and local community because we shared our knowledge to our fellow students and neighbors on how to prevent pollution. And we have this website for both our student body and community.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

By introducing our website’s intentions on how to protect and prevent pollution to destroy our nature, the members of our community volunteered to help and save our nature from destruction. 6.) Did the news media know about your project? ? Our project was not discovered by news media, because our website is only limited to our community and our school. Our website does not apply for introduction in media or news reports. Our website didn’t have an article written about it neither did it had a television news spot, because as we said before, it is only a commercial project for our subject. But if any chance it will be discovered, we would like to impart them our intentions on how to make our environment or nature clean, green and pollution free.
