2. Summary of Our Project

Our project talks about a leader, specifically, here in the Philippines. We focused on one the best exemplar of being an ideal leader who is the former President of the Philippines, Corazon Aquino simply known as “Cory”.

She was the 11th President of the Philippines and the first woman to hold the office in Philippine history and is best remembered for leading the 1986 People Power Revolution, which toppled Ferdinand Marcos, a dictator, and restored democracy in the Philippines. She is considered an icon of democracy, and was titled by TIME Magazine in 1986 as its “Woman of the Year”. During her presidency, she got many problems and threats on military elements and communists rebels and further on numerous disasters and severe power shortages also the ending of the presence of the United States, but still, she have done her best in bringing back democracy, restoring investor confidence in the economy and enacting legal and constitutional reforms.

The purpose of this project is to inspire others to be like the former President of the Philippines Cory Aquino. A leader who is identified with honor, integrity, and dignity; that can inverse the political system that are corrupted and often prejudicial, and only supplies the need of the rich and powerful. One who will be responsible for a change in this oppressive political system that is necessary to ensure a bright future for the coming generations, and who can set aside her personal needs and gains and denounces oppression and corruption for the nation to prosper. One who listens to the needs of its people and acts accordingly to address their problems. Rarely, that we find this kind of leader who sparks hope and ignites inspiration.

The former President Cory Aquino is truly the best example of a great leader.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

In the making of our project, we experienced some problems that should be overcome to be able to finish successfully our project. Some of these problems are: -having slow Internet connections that made the processing of our project slow and time-wasting, -blocked Social Medias that made our resources limited which made us stocked with only books and some printed materials, lack of time because of the requirements we have in some other subjects we have, pressure and rush in our project because it is in line with our examination days.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

For our project, we can summarize in a sentence all the experiences we had with this quotation:

“Every Work is Done Successfully and Fast with a Determined Heart and a Focused Mind.” We had expressed this quotation because their was the time when our group was so hopeless because of the mistakes done in our project but being a leader, I volunteered to finish the lacks of the project with only few remaining time but with a determined heart and focused mind, I am able to do it. That is the foundation of our quotation.

6. How did your activities and research for this Doors to Diplomacy Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Our project teaches about the skills, traits, and characteristics, which make an individual a great world leader. Our project addresses, the awareness of choosing a leader; not only a leader that will be the representative of the country, but a leader who can do all for the sake of the his/her people.

Our project supplies the youths’ need; their need to know the skills, traits, and characteristics that one must possess that makes him/her a great world leader. Because we believe that, youths are the next leaders and thus, there is a need for them to know these skills, traits, and characteristics that makes them a great world leader as exemplified by our best example of an ideal leader, the former Philippines’ president, Corazon “Cory” Aquino.

As the makers of this project, we also learned great things through this project and we simplified it in quotes:

-“Nothing’s impossible with determination and perseverance and with God’s guidance.”, -“All things are achieved not by chances but by choices.”, -“Obstacles are there not to destroy us, but to make us stronger, and better.”, and -“Opportunities should be taken, because life’s too short to be letting go.”

This project gave way for us to communicate and express our knowledge about our ideal leader and enabling us to share it to our fellows of different nations, and through this, we connect ourselves with them, thus making a link that can help us know better our similarities and differences to avoid conflicts with our nations. In addition, through this project, we also had made a bigger community composed of different nations with different cultures, traditions, and beliefs, all in one.

Moreover, though this project, we proved that the internet is a unique, effective, and strategic way to international affairs and diplomacy making different nations achieve unity.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your Doors to Diplomacy project?

We used different information tools and technologies to compete our projecting among these tools are: Laptop computers: Acer and Imac (Apple) and Desktop computer: Vertu –they are our tools to the Internet, in our research about leaders, and in learning their traits, skills, and achievements. Cellphones: Xperia Mini Pro, Nokia 6680, Samsung E2510, Samsung Galaxy Y (Young), and Nokia X201 –we used them in communicating ideas and in interacting with our friends and helpers about our project. TV stations: AXN, National Geographic, Disney Channel, Cartoon Network, TV5, GMA, ABS-CBN, ETC, IBC, and Star Movies –helped us know current and great events about what our topic is. It also helped us achieve more points and ideas about leaders’ traits, skills, and achievements around the world. Radio stations: BOMBO Radio, Love Radio, IFM, My Only Radio, K-lite, DZMM, DZBB –helped us know about different contributions of our past and current leaders. They tell different stories about leaders, including their traits, experiences and funny stories about them. Video and Digital Camera: Sony Cyber shot –helped us get photos that we used for our web page designing. Computer Software: Microsoft Word 2003, and 2007 –they are used for the documentary and application of our project. These tools are our member’s properties and all these tools are valuable and so helpful in our project, but among our tools, we say that the most valuable tool is the computers because it is like a combination of all our tools. It is where we communicate instead of our phones, where we watch, hear and learn mostly all things instead of our televisions and radios, it is also where we can search for images quickly than going to places just for photos. That is the reason why we love our computers because it has most of the things we want to know and see.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your Doors to Diplomacy project both on-line and in person.

In our project, we need to represent and be proud of it and that is how we became ambassadors and spokespersons of it. We are the ones who must answer all the questions and clarifications regarding our project. We are also the ones responsible for any faults in our projects. ON-LINE: We are the ones who will advertise our project to the World Wide Web because it is what our project is supposed to be, to share to others our knowledge and to be united in one cause, leadership, even if we have more differences than similarities. We are representatives of our project even though there are those competes with us, we must still handle with our project, and we must not abandon it no matter happens. IN PERSON: As our purpose is to share with others our knowledge about our ideal leader then we must act as representatives by not only sharing our topic online but also to our friends, acquaintances, family, mates, and neighbors personally. Being ambassadors, we must be the ones to answer all reactions and questions regarding our project. We must also be the ones to advertise our project to others and stand for it no matter happens.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Our communities are the first ones that are excited about our project. They supported us as we as we started and until we finished our project. They suggested different ideas and points that we needed for our project to be enhanced and to be understandable even to young children that are part of the audiences. They gathered as one family to learn and share with us what they had learned about our project. They joined us with our purpose of sharing the information and being ambassadors of our project. Overall, our project for the community is effective and successful.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

As the purpose of our project is for the community, then we advertise our projects’ purpose and asked for volunteers and helpers for the success and betterment of our project and they quickly viewed our project and helped us in constructing points and ideas that can make our project more effective and more popular to the internet community and to our real communities. We also selected our helpers and volunteers; we chose the ones who have experiences being a leader and the ones who have the potentials of helping us.
