Project Overview

1. Description of Our Team

We are the students of Dhahran Ahliyya School aged 14-16 studying in grade 10th. We have worked on this together .Students-ELyana A.,Naheel S.,Lama M.,Atheer Q. and our coach-Mrs.Sayed. The worked was divided in a balanced way.One of us got pictures and videos, while the others worked on the website. We managed to contact our local leader – Ahmad Alshugairi- and have a word with him.

2. Summary of Our Project

Our project is about leadership. We all feel that the demand of the hour is a strong and effective leadership to guide people to do their best the right way. Today’s youth needs examples of great leaders to whom they’ll accept as their role models. We need leaders like Ahmad Alshugairi to show us the path to goodness. He rules millions of hearts in the Arab world. He is a strong promoter of education and positive attitude towards life.

We had smooth internet connections in our classrooms, computer labs and at homes. This enabled us to finish our work on time.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

We had some difficulties contacting our leader but finally we got to have a word with him. We also worked at home and that took some time from are regular homework time.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

“What we are is God’s gift to us, what we make of ourselves is our girt to God”. We feel that there is a leader in each one of us. Now the time has come to unveil the leader within. Let’s make the best of our inner goodness for the sake of unity and peace.

6. How did your activities and research for this Doors to Diplomacy Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Dhahran Ahliyya School follows the Delaware standard of learning thru out our project we met all the four standards of writing, listing and speaking, reading and research. We learned to work in co-operative groups. We learned the concepts of positive interdependence, individual accountability, observations, assessments and celebrating together.

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your Doors to Diplomacy project?

We used tools like computers, scanners, printers, libraries, newspapers, magazines, oral interviews, TV shows to make our project rich and impressive. These tools helped us to get the right information for our website. We are proud to say that our school provided us with all the needed facilities to complete our project on time.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your Doors to Diplomacy project both on-line and in person.

We feel that the world will be a better place to live if all the students of this world act as ambassadors of education and unity through sharing knowledge with one another we want the world to open their hearts and minds to the Arab world and acknowledge the positive accomplishments, message of brotherhood of our leaders.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

People in our school and community are excited about this contest that will portray a true Arab leader and his positive thoughts across the globe. We are all eager to show the world a positive image of our country and cultural.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

We had some guidance from our community helpers to compile information for our website.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

We learned that doing extra-curricular activities helped us to broaden the horizon of our knowledge. It gives us the confidence to apply text to world learning. We also learned the skill of designing our own website.
