Project Overview

1. Description of Our Team

Our perfect members of team are Leon (16 years old), Ji-won (16 years old), Harry (16 years old), and Karen (15 years old). We gathered for special part that diplomacy. Our topic was diplomacy between South Korea and North Korea. Fortunately, all members of our group was Korean. So, we have deep history and knowledge of our diplomacy. First, Harry and Leon were researching the position of North Korea that what they really want during diplomacy with South Korea. On the other side, Ji-won and Karen were researching the position of South Korea that what they really want during diplomacy with North Korea. Second, we divided our part in partially and equivocally. We were appropriate and acceptable with our parts. The leader of our team was Karen Kim. We sent our part to Karen then, She usually upload the file on Iweb. It was quick and easy. There was no fight and struggle between our group. We kept our peace and we were discussing every time to make the masterpiece of diplomacy. Eventually, We could finish our diplomacy as quick as possible with perfect job.

2. Summary of Our Project

Our project theme is “Diplomacy between North and South Korea” , we suppose to announce or know the diplomacy between North Korea, and South Korea. Also team members and I wish to make them know about both countries diplomacy, because Korea have boundary between them. All team members are South Korean and they agree about this topic also we try to write fairly and neutralness. We consider South Korea’s perspective also North Korea’s perspective too. We show the diplomacy between North and South. In contrast, we also show the bad occurrences between them which are battles or psywar. Korea is the only country that did not unify together, so we include the interview to help and support the diplomacy between them. By this project and diplomacy we hope both countries get benefits and good results.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

The main problem was that we didn’t plan our time well to do this project. We were busy with our homework and tests, so it left little time to work on this project. And it took us a long time to combine our information and publish it. Also, the pictures of our topic were kind of hard to find. So the pictures were a problem for us too.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

This project means a lot to us and our community because it will shed some light on making amiable and fabulous the relationship of South Korea and North Korea.

6. How did your activities and research for this Doors to Diplomacy Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

In this project we have two simple contents which is good diplomacy and bad diplomacy and we show to compare each others. The teacher required to use iweb to make this project with detail bibliography, because they cared about plagiarism. All the members are able to learn organizing informations on the website. Also our members tried to practice the concepts with “Hope”. The hope of and peace between the North and South Korea. What we choose topic is little difficult and unfamiliar to people but we have basic information so it’s easy to understand specific ideas. Follow this, it was easy to follow the school’s requirements and contents. Also we able to know the importance of bibliography. It proves all our work and give trust to grader.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your Doors to Diplomacy project?

We used 4 Macbooks, online newspapers, and websites. These tools really helped us because they were fast and easy ways to search and gain information. The most helpful part was the online newspaper because we found lots of information that was written at the time when the events happened, and the information was very accurate so that we can collect correct information about the diplomatic events between North and South Korea.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your Doors to Diplomacy project both on-line and in person.

We are proud of our projects. We interviewed our history teacher about the issues of North and South Korea. What’s more, all of the members in our group come from South Korea,so we are familiar with our topic. This advantage helps us know more background about our project. Also, we did a lot of research to get more information.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

There aren't any impact on the community or the relationship between North and South Korea, but we hope that our project can gain public's attention about the diplomacy going on between the Korea Peninsula, and help improve the relationship in order to get the South and North Korea get reunion one day soon.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Our history teacher Mr. Bable volunteer for our interview part. For the interview part we tried to show our actions for good diplomacy. The reason why we choose him is he really know well for the situation between North and South Korea, and also he has lots of information and interest about Korea situation. Also one of the members in this group Harry, his father also involve and volunteer on this group project. Harry got advices and information also got his own ideas and thinking from him.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

We’ve learned that the successful and unsuccessful diplomacy of North Korea and South Korea, the improvement diplomacy and the history of the diplomacy. In addition, we interview our history teacher to get more information.
