Description of Our Community: Beipu is located in a small town in Hsinchu County, Taiwan. It was the base of Hakka immigrants in the Qing Dynasty. At that time, under the leadership of Jiang Xiuluan, the settlers entered the Beipu Basin and built the Jin Guangfu Mansion as the base for reclamation. Citian Temple It was the center of faith at that time, and it gradually developed into a lively neighborhood, which is today's Beipu Old Street. Beipu Old Street was once the busiest commercial center in Beipu in the Qing Dynasty. From the short 200-meter old street, there are seven historic sites including Jin Guangfu Mansion, Jiang Axin Ancient House, and Citian Temple, which shares the highest concentration of historical sites in Taiwan, and illustrates the prosperity of its past. Owners and managers of these historic sites who share the same philosophy do not want to lose the rich historic sites and cultural resources under the time passing, so they unite to form the "Beipu Old Settlement Museum Historic Site Joint Operation Team" with the concept of protecting cultural assets , to promote the joint management of historic sites. Now, under the guidance of professional tour guides, people can visit the historic buildings in the old settlements in person and experience the beauty of local history, culture and architectural art. This joint venture project has successfully transformed the old Beipu district into a Hakka culture and innovation settlement.

Project Description: This topic is to gain an in-depth understanding of the historical sites, history and culture of Beipu Old Street through activities such as reading materials, watching videos, field investigations, expert interviews and guided tours. Through a one-day visit and guided tour, we visited the historical sites and understood the process of the ancestors' reclamation and the local culture and its industry. During the interviews with the locals, we also learned that through a group of people who share the same philosophy of protecting cultural assets, preservation of the culture and the old settlements can be successfully implemented. The Old Settlement Museum Historic Site Joint Venture Team is the first museum group in Taiwan that is autonomously operated by private owners of historic sites. Guided tours provide a chance for tourists to visit historic sites, experience Hakka culture, and what’s more, to combine cultural assets with local industries and tourism. Beipu Old Street, an old settlement full of reclamation history and culture, can shine again through the joint management of historical sites, so that this old street full of historical relics has a different vitality and is moving towards the goal of sustainable development and management.
